Alabaster is a tall, imposing Xaela man, one of the very few that even reside in Ul'dah. As if his muscular body wasn't intimidating enough, his missing left eye is usually covered by a simple black eyepatch. He is rarely seen in informal clothing, there are some who've never even seen him in less than two layers of clothes. Alabaster has a neutral or angry resting face, leading many to believe he will yell if disturbed or annoyed.His horns, hands, and tail are almost always adorned by golden jewelry thanks to his connections to the Goldsmithing Guild and his own affinity for the arts.Alabaster's voice is deep and gravely after years of struggling to speak. Most people are shocked to learn he is so young, as he carries himself with the air of an older man. While many people believe his hair is prematurely graying, the Bardur family actually has a rather unique quirk: their hair becomes darker with stress and whiter over time the more at ease they are. With the responsibilities of the Warrior of Light, it's no surprise that Alabaster's hair would be mostly black.After the events of Endwalker, the tip of his right horn was broken during his fight with Zenos. He has also taken a liking to wearing a red gem inside his empty eye socket during formal events in place of his eyepatch.

ALIGNMENT
Neutral Good
Alabaster is an extremely serious man, sometimes to a detrimental degree. He speaks in a very formal manner, often too formal for the situations he's in. Rigid conversational and social expectations make it easier for him to understand what he's supposed to say, but he becomes incredibly anxious the instant the structure is broken or bent. Humor and sarcasm is often lost on him, even if he can sometimes use sarcasm and tell (mediocre) jokes.His expectations of the outside world were greatly tinted by the descriptions in the romance novels and fairy tales he adored. He is very romantic and dramatic. His anxiety makes him pessimistic, but after the events of Shadowbringers, he's working extremely hard to have a more optimistic view on things. Even his anxiety has lessened somewhat, though the idea of public speaking still makes him nauseous.He is a very private man, there are things that he can easily take to his grave. He prefers the company of a few very select people. When he isn't saving the world, Alabaster is reading, training, or enjoying fine tea. He collects silverware and enjoys the act of polishing and preserving it. He's also a talented goldsmith and enjoys making jewelry for others. He recently took up baking, which he is not very good at, much to Nero's dismay.The initial excitement of being a heroic figure was all but ruined by Minfilia's death, and made worse after Zenos died in front of him. He sees the title of the Warrior of Light as a burden that he can not escape from. Nor does he want to. There are people who look up to him, people who want to be just like him. Alabaster would rather be dead than to ever let them down.[Note: Alabaster has autism and generalized anxiety disorder. He was selectively mute as a child, and struggled with agoraphobia after the events of Stormblood.]As of Dawntrail, Alabaster has managed to calm his anxieties as he takes on the role of the former Warrior of Light. While he's proud that Onyx can take on most of his work, he still grows restless at the thought of not being able to help as much as he did. He's a workaholic by nature.
* history.
CHILDHOOD
Alabaster Bardur was born as the sole heir of Bardur Teas & Spices, an incredibly wealthy Ul'dahn company that's been owned by the Bardur family for generations. He was primed to be a future businessman from birth, being taught arithmetic and the art of trade from the moment he could sign and read. Alabaster was an odd child, with specific fixations and an incredibly difficult time speaking, and a tendency to throw fits and outbursts that drove his parents mad and confounded his nannies and tutors to no end. None of them knew about the man in his head, nor did they understand how difficult it was for him to understand the world around him, and was punished for it ever since the incident that embarrassed his parents and cost him his left eye.He came to know the man in his head as Prometheus. He rarely spoke to him, he could only ever see him in the corner of his eye. A passing shadow. A figure watching him sleep. Whenever he did speak, he offered Alabaster little words of advice. He taught him how to fight, he helped him pronounce the words he could not understand in his books, he offered an odd sense of company when he felt lonelier than usual.Alabaster didn't see his face until he was eleven summers old. It was like any other party that he was always forced to attend, and Alabaster wanted to hide and tell the world to be quiet. He was so angry, and adults kept saying hello and asking him questions. When he did run, he was met by a large mirror in an empty hallway. He saw Prometheus in his reflection instead of himself. The next thing he knew, his hand was bleeding and covered in shards of glass. So was his left eye. He recalls it as the only time his mother comforted him for an entire night, and his recovery was the longest time he'd ever seen her sober.No longer allowed to attend school and mingle with the other rich Ul'dahn children, Alabaster dedicated himself entirely to his solitude. He found friendships with the characters in his books, he studied piano, and managed to release his anger through learning martial arts. He told himself it was fine. He was safe from the wreckage of a slowly healing world here. He told himself that he didn't need friends, he would be far too busy for them someday anyway.The words Prometheus offered in his head slowly became angrier and angrier. He was fed up with being in a boy's head, and constantly tried to convince him to run away. Alabaster refused, but the desire to see the world properly, beyond just parties and galas and the occasional business trips his father would take him on.It wasn't until his eighteenth summer that he was finally convinced to leave. He was a man now, Prometheus told him. Commanded him. He told him to join the pugilist guild and make something of himself. To leave the world that was so ashamed of him. He was destined to be stronger. To rule. He wondered if Prometheus knew his words were an echo of his father's. Alabaster was too frightened to say no.
* relationships.
NERO TOL SCAEVA
When Alabaster tells the story of how he met Nero, he insists he was obviously suspicious of the Garlean man who had propositioned him out of nowhere. Nero will back him up, telling whoever has to listen to the story that Alabaster knew all along that he was an imperial spy, that the Warrior of Light is obviously clever enough to recognize an obvious trap when he sees one. They both know that's not quite true, but no one needs to know that the Warrior of Light isn't exactly clever.Alabaster didn't even know Nero's name all during the times they slept together. All he knew was that the stranger was handsome, charming, and surprisingly knew enough Eorzean Sign Language for Alabaster to feel comfortable communicating with him. It wasn't until the night he entered the Praetorium that he realized who he had been sleeping with this entire time, and as his fists met the crimson metal of Nero's mask, it cracked just enough for him to catch a glimpse of those familiar periwinkle eyes. The sight alone made what would've been a killing blow falter just long enough for Nero to escape. Alabaster likes to think it was quite a romantic moment. Nero says he's just glad he got out alive.Alabaster regretted being so blatant with his worries and feelings about his newfound responsibilities. He could barely speak to the scions at all, yet he found it so easy to tell this complete stranger that maybe being the hero wasn't what he thought it would be. His anxiety was made worse when Nero seemingly returned from the dead. Then, just later that same day, he returned from the void.He couldn't turn away a man who'd arrived at his doorstep after just facing horrors beyond his own comprehension, thus Alabaster found himself back where they left off. No matter where Alabaster was, Nero could find him and they would always find a way to keep their affair secret. Once again, Alabaster would always spill his heart to Nero. He never expected the Garlean to reply nor did he want any advice, he just wanted someone to listen to his worries without platitudes related to him being the wondrous, string hero that everyone was counting on. Nero would just listen. So would Alabaster in return. It was all they ever wanted and not once did anyone before them sit down and listen to what they wanted to say.But they had to stay a secret. Alabaster knows just how ruthless the press could be, and he had no doubt that the public would be equally as unnerved by the Warrior of Light consorting with former elite Garlean spy. Not even the Ironworks knew, though he had a feeling that Y'shtola could sense he was hiding something. Prometheus assured him that keeping their relationship private was the best route to take, though Alabaster was never at ease when the voice in his head agreed with him. Thancred knew from the very start, most likely by spying into the wrong room at the wrong time. Thankfully, no matter how much they disliked each other, the rogue never said a thing.Their arrangement stayed the same for a while. A secret rendezvous at an inn where they wouldn't be disturbed, one of them would leave in the morning before the other woke up, then a few days or weeks would pass before Nero found him again. Nero insisted that it had something to do with his tomestone and linkpearl's "traceability", but Alabaster hadn't the slightest idea what that could mean.Things took a turn for Alabaster's psyche when the Prince of Garlemald took his own life in front of him, combined with the horror of the war and the looming threats of further Garlean atrocities, Alabaster found himself unable to speak once more. All the progress he thought he had made for himself came crumbling down, made worse by witnessing the tragedy of Yotsuyu's fate. He secluded himself in an inn in Kugane, barely able to leave even to get himself something to eat. He could have asked for help but he was too embarrassed about his breakdown, too ashamed to show even Alisaie who he thought he truly was: a lonely, quiet hermit who was far too troubled and selfish to be a hero.But Nero found him once more, just like he always did.Nero was surprisingly gentle while he took care of Alabaster. He was sure that the Garlean wouldn't have a lot of patience for such a pitiful display, but strong, slender hands washed his hair, while his confident voice reminded Alabaster of his place in the world. He might have to be the Warrior of Light to Etheirys, but he will always just be Alabaster Bardur to the people who truly love him. Alabaster thought it was a confession. Nero never confirmed nor denied it.Slowly, he managed to get the young hero from his agoraphobic seclusion and back into action. He helped during the trials of Omega, and sat beside Nero's bed as he recovered from his injuries. When it was all over, Nero took his bounty from the Ironworks and enjoyed a short time of luxury with Alabaster. All seemed perfect, at least for a while.Alabaster was miserable when he was pulled from the Source and into the First. Not only had the twins been separated from him for so long, but he was away from Nero for months, far too ashamed of his own light poisoning and growing apathy to return to the source and see him. He knew it would've only been a week or so for the older man, but he was far too busy stopping a world ending at the hands of a man he thought he could love.He did not tell Nero about Emet-selch. That could stay between him and the ancient soul living within his own mind.After yet, another close encounter with death, and after finally gaining the approval of his ancient self, Alabaster returned to the Source with a more optimistic outlook on life. Unknown to most of the scions, he also learned of the fate of the Ironworks in the Black Rose Timeline. Nero's utter dedication to his return, even if it was in another timeline, became the most romantic act of devotion that Alabaster had ever heard of. He immediately took Nero in his arms upon his return, revealing their relationship to the scions and the public at large. Nero had no idea what Alabaster was talking about, but enjoyed the attention all the same.Saying that people were surprised, scandalized, and even angry was an understatement. For once in his life, Alabaster couldn't care. He only explained himself to the Leveilleur twins, and while young Alphinaud was understanding, Alisaie… well, she would tolerate it in due time. Tataru could handle the press just fine.His latest adventure was surrounded in grief and the exact sort of suffering and loneliness he no longer wanted to feel ever again. Despite all the loss and frustration, and a rather confusing trip to the moon, Alabaster found Nero uncharacteristically staring at the wall despite the fact he had worked nonstop building a ship that would take Alabaster to the farthest reaches of the universe. He fully expected Nero to be not only celebrating his own genius, but enjoying a much needed cigarette. Then Nero broke the news: he was expecting. Alabaster doesn't recall what happened after he fainted and slipped into the cold Sharlayan waters, just that he was carried into the ship with his clothes still slightly damp.Alabaster wished he could have taken Nero to the end of the universe. He would have loved meeting Sir, and all the other odd creatures around him. The sight of other intelligent worlds that were lost to suffering and decay would have left Nero speechless. Dynamis, hope, his own stubbornness from refusing to die before he gets to meet his child – whatever brought him back, Alabaster is forever thankful he could return to the arms of the ones he loved. And that he could finally take a much needed break.Nineteen somewhat blissful years passed and they both raised their daughter, Onyx Baidur-Scaeva, a beautiful and highly intelligent but demanding and utterly spoiled girl who became an equally demanding, genius, and spoiled young woman who has taken on the mantle as the new Warrior of Light.
ALISAIE LEVEILLEUR
While many people might think Nero is the driving force behind Alabaster's heroics, Alisaie is the sole reason Alabaster has not retired from the title of Warrior of light. While he is very fond of her brother and sees him as his own younger sibling, Alisaie might just be the most important person in his life. Her encouraging words have saved him time and time again. Her belief in him is what makes him want to be a better man. Alabaster always wished for siblings, he's forever grateful his destiny led him to find the perfect little sister.RAUBAHN ALDYNN
Alabaster sees Raubahn as a father figure. He latched onto his words from the very moment they met, and has always admired his strength and loyalty. He trusts Raubahn completely, even if they don't get to catch up as often as they were able to now that he's busy with the restoration of Ala Migho.MR & MRS BARDUR
To say that Alabaster's relationship with his parents is strained is an understatement. His father is an extremely distant, judgemental, and unsympathetic man, who is either working, gambling, or spending his time with muscular men he can entertain himself with. His mother is an alcoholic who cares little about others, and often doesn't entirely seem to be present with the world around her. After the birth of his daughters, he cuts off communication with them entirely unless they choose to change. When they pass, he's surprised he's still in the will as the sole heir. Perhaps it's their odd way of apologizing.MINFILIA WARDE
Alabaster's first love. He fell for Minfilia instantly, admiring her leadership and mesmerized by her golden hair. He was far too nervous to ever act on his feelings, though he had a suspicion Minfilia knew about them. He was never a subtle man…Her loss broke Alabaster's heart and confuses him even to this day.ESTINIEN VARLINEAU
Alabaster's drinking buddy. While he didn't think much of the Azure Dragoon at first, he finds Estinien's company very comforting. He's one of the few people he can enjoy sitting in silence with, and Estinien's deceptively keen sense of other's emotions consistently shocks Alabaster, but he's always grateful for the man's help. If they aren't sharing a drink, he's quietly listening to Nero and Estinien rattle on about their upbringing with farming in the frigid countryside.EMMANELLAIN DE FORTEMPS
Mortal enemy, not that Emmanellain knows about it.HILDIBRAND MANDERVILLE
Mortal… frenemy? Hildibrand and Alabaster grew up in the same social circles, and since the Manderville heir was only five years older than him, Alabaster was constantly forced to befriend Hildibrand. His parents also thought it would be a good idea for Hildibrand to later babysit Alabaster while they were at the grand saucer. Alabaster refuses to acknowledge that his fondness for silly, ridiculous men might have a very specific source.KOANA
Nero and Alabaster's new boy toy who they spend time with and occasionally sleep with after the events of Dawntrail.
azem & shards

* azem prometheus.
Prometheus took his position as the seat of Azem both extremely seriously and with great displeasure. He always wondered if it was a way for the convocation to get rid of him and send him on what felt like frivolous trips. After the death of world after world, each trip felt more important than the last. Prometheus grew to like these intelligent beings far more than his own kind, reveling in nature and trying his best to show the Ancients just how much they could learn from them. Some listened, some scoffed at him. Hades told him he was being ridiculous. His dearest Persephone managed to quell his anger by confusing him so easily. He kept Peredur away from the ancients, they would not understand his love for the blonde, clever mortal. He was a man full of love who did not know how to show it, and he will never understand why Venat cursed him to live inside his stupid shard's head.At least the boy is strong, he tells himself. The boy is better than him. Alabaster was able to beat Hades even after being fooled by the old, romantic fool. Even after having his body ripped apart by light and magick in an attempt to bring Prometheus back from the dead, he beat him. He'd finally proven himself as a worthy owner of his power, and had quelled the anger that had lived inside of Prometheus for so long. For that, he will be forever grateful.Not that he'll ever tell Alabaster.

* 2nd Shard amethyst bardur.
Amethyst was the second shard of the Azem. She was born into an upbringing extremely similar to Alabaster's, even down to her own missing left eye.Once she reached her eighteen summer and was old enough to marry, Amethyst was introduced to her husband, Nero tol Scaeva, a military leader from a distant land. She fell head over heels for him instantly, and Nero was a wonderful husband up until his untimely death. Never once did she suspect she would find Nero building weapons for the opposing church. He looked so guilty even behind his imposing red mask. The weapons were destroyed by her own kingdom's army, as was their creator with them.She mourned even after she reached the snow covered lands of the north. She wore black for so long, and never once thought of going back to her colors, even if they had been married for less than a year. Amethyst was a very dramatic young woman.So was her late husband when he came back from the dead. She was not happy to learn Nero had faked his own death, even if he needed to get away from his horrid motherland. But after the rage of his deceit finally subsided, she felt even stronger by his side. They were unstoppable, she thought. Not even the sun itself could stop them, no matter how hot it got. No matter how much they starved. No matter how much the gods hated them.Even when the world was engulfed by flames, Amethyst felt safe in the comforts of her husband's arms.

* 6th shard emory al-khatib.
Emory was the sixth shard of the Azem. He was born into a moderately wealthy family that was extremely loyal to their duke, and had served the noble family for generations of soldiers and knights. Emory was taught the art of combat since he could walk. He was talented, brave, honorable. All things a future knight should be, and Emory hated every second of it.Ever since he was young, he dreamed of being a princess. He saw the noble's and royalty's dresses from afar, dreamed only of balls and a lavish life where him and his family would never have to worry about anything again. Even after he was knighted and accomplished everything his parents wanted him to, Emory still dreamed of luxury. It wasn't until he met a feline man named Asriel that he saw his opportunity to make his dreams come true.Asriel was a con artist, a thief, and a liar. Exactly the sort of man a knight should never confide in. But Asriel knew his way around nobility, especially how to trick them. With Emory's looks and trustworthy title, and Asriel's charms, they slowly gained their riches and climbed the social ladder until Emory's goals were finally at his grasp. He was propositioned by a duke for his hand in marriage! He would finally reach the life of luxury he dreamed of, surrounded by all these terrible, miserable people he had grown to hate.Emory declined the offer. Being a thief was so much more fun than being a noble.They stole and scammed until the very last warm breath. The world became colder with each passing second. He was frozen beside the man he learned to love and beside all the riches that had become rightfully theirs.

* 13th shard count morgante sanseverino.
Morgante was the thirteenth shard of the Azem. Born into an affluent artistic family in Troia, Morgante became not only quickly adept in the dark arts, but also a clever trickster who broke hearts and bones to get what he wanted. He had everything. Money, status, power, but he still did not have a partner to share it with. That is, until a young woman caught his eye, and his obsession with her spiraled into a mutually assured reckoning.Gioia Bevilacqua was beautiful. He couldn't imagine a more gorgeous girl, but she was promised to another, as her bankrupt father desperately attempted to restore her family's name and wealth. Morgante did not understand why she would go for a prince when he could offer him so much more comforts and liberties. So he did what any reasonable man would do: he lit the Bevilacqua manor on fire. Surely, leaving them at a wit's end and with nothing the prince would want, young Gioia would have to say yes to his hand in marriage.He did not intend to kill the young woman's parents, but he got what he wanted. Gioia became his wife, with a handful of liberties that Ladies did not often get in Troia. He taught her the art of fencing. He showed her not to fear his black magic, but to embrace it alongside her own white one. She feared him, even going as far as trying to kill him a few times, but Morgante would never succumb to any poison that came his way. He was far too powerful, and with the aid of his eidolons, he was assured that he would be spared in the rejoining of his world.Gioia would not allow it, she knew of the wreckage he could inflict in the darkness, and while she wasn't powerful enough to ourright kill him, she fragmented his soul into her own. Her body and mind turned into an aether-starved creature, taking on the form of a succubus. Unlike the others around her, Gioia was never alone in the darkness, and she carries her husband's soul and voice in her mind to this day.

Silos' hair is naturally black, but he enjoys bleaching it for aesthetic purposes. While well taken care of, it is not bleached often and it often has long black roots.His teeth are sharp, and his eyes are striking, bright neon green. His scales are somewhat hidden in his tiefling form, though he does not grow any body hair and is visually more reptilic than other tieflings. It might be clear to the trained eye that his appearance is enchanted, but most common folk disregard him as a tiefling on account of the bright green horns.Long, dark brown tail that matches his skin tone. He's had it with his enchantment for years but is still somewhat unused to it.
Red face paint typical of his tribe, meant to symbolize his knowledge of magic, how respected he should be as a mage, what sort he is an expert at. The markings on his arms and legs are tattooed.Silos has multiple face piercings, though those are for personal aesthetic reasons and have nothing to do with his tribe. They are mostly silver in the event he needs some for self defense against other creatures.His genitalia includes both a cock and a slit beneath it used for pleasure and reproduction. While his cock seems more human like with his tiefling enchantment, it is slender, smoother, and a deep green color in his natural form.

Lawful Evil
General Disposition:
Silos often has a serious look when he's alone with his own thoughts. He is often focused on the task at hand or focused on his own thoughts and studies. He is naturally extremely curious, maybe even to a fault, but tries to be kind when he reminds himself he should be.Primary Motivations:
Silos is motivated entirely by the thirst for knowledge and the urge to satiate his own curiosity. While he tries to do good, he is not against allowing himself to be roped somewhere that seems like a bad idea if it means getting some information or a new spell. More than anything, he needs to know the source of his grand vision and will not let anything impede his search. He wants to make sure his people are safe and taken care of, and will make sure of it through the generations of yuan-ti to come.
Goodness and kindness are not his main goals, they are traits he has to remind himself to have, though he is trying to do so as much as he can.Outlooks:
Silos likes to describe himself as an optimistic realist. He thinks the best can come of his goals but does not believe in miracles, nor does he believe the gods will have much interference in his journey.Quirks:
+ Tilts his head when asking a question.
+ Very inexpressive face, does not blink as much as the normal tiefling would.
+ Shuffles cards or toys with his rune stones while thinking.
+ Tail is also very expressive.
+ Very hard to scare. His eager curiosity makes him far too interested in the source of the danger and how to stop it. He could be captured by an enemy or under the control of an awful spell and his first instinct would be to ask about the perpetrator's methodology.Speech Mannerisms:
Speaks very bluntly and honestly. Sometimes elongatesss his s sssounds if he is in a more tired or influenced state. He does not hide his accents around those he trusts.Sense of Humor:
Humor tends to go over his head. Sarcasm makes him tilt his head and fall silent until he receives a genuine response. He is rarely coy. Silos does enjoy a good pun or a well constructed joke, and he isn't above laughing at someone else's clumsiness.
* history.
BACKSTORY
Silos comes from a riverside tribe of displaced yuan-ti who found refuge in the southern jungles of Chult after a group of adventurers from the north destroyed their last remaining main temple and much of their upper caste. Centuries of architecture, wealth, and history were lost from adventurers trying to loot their temples and destroy their so-called evil god, Sseth. When the northern 'adventurers' won, the yuan-ti were left with only what they could carry, and were more intent in saving their clutches of eggs than their possessions. Only a few pure-bloods and and even fewer half-bloods survived, taking their families and finding safety away from others who might try to completely wipe away their kind. Over time, a new society of yuan-ti formed, focused more on knowledge and arcane magic. While their original goal was to recuperate their society as it once was, they found that their innate ability and talent for the arcane made them even stronger, and the village turned into a tight-knit community of master mages.When they did choose to interact with any outsiders, it was only with other mages, and they tended to keep their knowledge of yuan-ti magic mostly to themselves. The Yuan-ti who left the tribe made some coin offering their divination services, though they found that they were looked down upon or thought to be deceitful by other races. Because of this, the few yuan-ti that have left have had to make a great effort to be recognized as respected, powerful wizards and sorcerers amongst their non-yuan-ti peers.Silos always had the goal to become one of his people's great and powerful wizards. The broodmothers who raised him were all quite powerful in their own right, and one was a master oracle who took him under her wing. She saw that Silos was born with immense talent for understanding runes, spell work, and most importantly, time. He was distant from other children his age and much preferred to spend his time studying and practicing rather than playing, but the oracle believed his dedication to their craft only made him all the more suited for greatness. After years of study and practice, Silos finally felt ready to begin his journey when he turned seventeen summers old.The night before he was supposed to leave, he had a vision of a horrible event. He felt like he had been separated from his body, forced to look upon the inevitable outcome of the world, as if it was some form of horrible punishment by an old god. The other mages believed it to be a premonition, while others thought it might be a hint of Silos' journey if he was to leave the tribe. This did not deter the young man in the slightest. Silos understood the fickleness of time and fate better than anyone in the tribe, and he knew that all he needed was enough power to manipulate it to his will. He vowed to learn as much as he could and find the source of this event. He understood that it was up to him to stop it, and whether he would face it head on or gain enough power to snap it from existence, he would return to his tribe with coffers of coin and knowledge that could help them restore their society to the mighty people they once were.His first goal was to reach the massive city of Baldur's Gate. He originally intended to leave it as soon as he visited the city's main library and places of study. He thought they could give him answers about his vision, but he found himself entranced by the sheer amounts of wizards and mages he could learn from. He was careful not to give too much of his own knowledge away, but so were the wizards he met, and Silos found himself working and scribing day after day to build enough trust with the local magical groups and guilds in Baldur's Gate. In his free time, he enjoyed visiting the local pubs and restaurants where he could read comfortably, or make a quick coin by offering the local cityfolk a reading.

BACKSTORY
Necahual Canul was born in Yak T'el as a Viera in a tribe revered for their musical talents. He was taught how to sing, play instruments, and orate from the moment he could speak and hold a brush in order to live up to the strict expectations of his elders, and as the son of one of the most respected singers of the tribe. He spent most of his childhood studying, almost entirely forbidden from making friends or leaving Yak T'el.When he reached adulthood, instead of having to choose between a marriage he did not want or a title he did not feel prepared to take, Necahual decided to leave Tural entirely. He ran away and took the first ship to Eorzea, landing in Ul'dah where he eventually landed a job working for a powerful crime family. Over the years, the jobs became more intricate, better paying, and more deadly, as he honed his skills gathering information and taking care of the family business.After years of coming out of everything scot free, he joined a particularly dangerous and messy job he didn't fully understand that ended up throwing the city into chaos. Necahual was framed by the family as a lone assassin who killed the late Sultan and Sultana in a political protest. He was sentenced to life in prison in the deadliest part of Ul'dah, the Marasaja Pit.He spent almost 15 years in a constant state of survival and desperation, hiding in the shadows and rarely ever talking to anyone. Necahual made do by stealing the clothing and weapons of the dead, eating voidsent meat (amongst other types of meat), and making arrows from bones and whatever wood and stone he could find. Over the years, his contraptions became more complicated, and he became a skilled, self-taught engineer who tried to make weapons and contraptions to help the others survive.In the rare quiet moments inside of the Pit, the other prisoners could hear the echo of his singing through the tunnels, earning him the nickname of the Songbird. There, he met Sajith Ranaraja, and while they rarely spoke to each other, they came to an agreement to aid each other whenever possible, leaving the other scraps and tools that they could spare around the Pit in silent understanding. Necahual also taught him his people's whistling language -- which they used in order to communicate over long distances -- helping them both survive and coordinate without giving their plans away to the guards.Sajith was released during the battle of Carteneau, and while Necahual didn't know the details of the chaos outside, he was struck by a sense of envy and fury at the sight of a true killer being released while he, an innocent man, had to remain in this hellhole forever. He made up his mind, took advantage of the distress, and climbed up the Pit using nothing but makeshift tools and spite.After days of hiding, he heard rumors of a benevolent group of Sharlayan students who called themselves the Scions of the Seventh Dawn. After pleading his case to their kind leader, he was hired by as a spy and swore full loyalty to the scions in return for one thing: A vial of fantasia.Necahual thus transformed into a Miqo'te, a far more common race of people in Eorzea, which made it easier for him to blend in and hide from any sort of suspicion. He's a man of his word, and worked tirelessly as a Scion spy, gaining information about the empire's plans. For the first time in years, Necahual's life finally felt fulfilling and complete. That is until the one Sajith Ranaraja joined the Scions as the chosen of Hydaelyn, the very man he was both jealous of and obsessed with. Foolishly believing that Sajith would not be able to recognize him after his transformation, Necahual worked in the main team as his confident and information gatherer. Except Sajith knew his scent intimately -- he, along with Minfilia, were the only ones who knew of his true identity.

BACKSTORY
Young Rosabel Santiago was born in a very different Viis tribe than most. Located far south of the great Rak'tika Greatwood, the tropical town of Anaguí is home to the forefront of medical advancement, both magical and technological. The people of Anaguí, mostly women, follow a very strict code of ethics that forbid healers from ever doing harm or turning away a patient. Because of this, a select group of warriors dedicate their lives to defending the town from anyone who might take advantage of their kindness.Once she was born, they believed Rosabel was a young boy. Because of Viis tradition, her father took her away to train her in the art of hunt and combat once she was old enough to walk and hold a spear. Rosabel hated every second of it, and while her father chalked it up to weakness at first, he noticed a discomfort from his words and her name that he had never seen in any of the children he had sired before. He became more gentle with Rosabel, allowing her to do other tasks that did not require her to kill, but still insisting she learned the art of primal magic. When it became clear what the problem was, her father took her back to Anaguí and apologized for his misunderstanding. He gave her his bow and her name, a more suited one for his beloved flower, and left to defend the jungle they called home.Rosabel felt more at home within Anaguí, dedicated herself completely to the study of medicine. While the town was open to helping outsiders, she believed it was their responsibility as healers to offer their aid to the rest of the world. With the help of her carbuncle and her fairy assistant, she became Anaguí's first traveling doctor.She loved helping the people of the First, no matter how much trouble they could cause and how difficult they could be at times. She knew patients could be difficult, especially those not used to proper medicine, but she had dealt with every kind of patient, of every race and age, even tending to some tribes and beasts, and considered herself quite the accomplished doctor. There were few things she could fix, and if she could not, she did everything in her power to make sure the last moments of the patient's life were as comfortable as possible. She lived by her people's oath and she had the true honor of living a life where she felt fully accomplished and happy with her place in the world.She will never forgive Hydaelyn for her error. It happened so suddenly. A young man in the distance had her eyes, her lips. They looked so similar, even if he was a hume. There was a connection she couldn't describe, neither could he. She reached out to touch him just to make sure he was real.Suddenly, Rosabel found herself flung across the stars with the clothes on her back, her magical assistants, and nothing to grab onto that could stop her. She landed in the sea. Even the saltwater tasted different.A REALM REBORN
Rosabel was rescued by a nearby ship that believed her to be a passenger that had gone overboard. They blamed her odd questions on a possible concussion. When they took her to an unknown city named Limsa Lominsa, she was treated with primitive healing magicks she would have been able to cast as an infant. Everything was confusing and infuriating all at once.Worse of all, a part of her very soul felt as if she was supposed to have been here all along. There was something deeply, horrifyingly wrong. This was not the world she knew, down to the smallest insect to the most innocuous world, to the strikingly different world map plastered on the wall of her Inn room. Etheirys, they called it. Or Hydaelyn to others. Whatever it was, she didn't want to be here, no matter how much her visions kept trying to convince her otherwise.She did her best to adjust to this new world. Doctors were always in demand, especially one as talented as her. It was very easy to get noticed when methods were so much more advanced than the rest. She happily taught her talents to the other medics, or chirurgeons, but they seemed wary of her. They accused her of using something called Garlean medicine, or called her a Garlean outright. Rosabel did not know what that meant, but it was said with so much disdain she began to keep her methods mostly to herself.Whilst offering her services to different parts of Eorzea, and sometimes aiding the Scions of the Seventh Dawn, she settled herself with Camp Drybone. She did not know the gods of this world, but the Church of Saint Adama Landama took her with open arms. She felt at home helping the people of Eastern Thanalan. There, she befriended a man by the name of Marques, and did her best to understand his raptured mind. He trusted her completely. Rosabel felt the same.The first time Rosabel ever broke her oath was when she kissed him. Ethics and practice be damned, she thought. She hated this world, hated what if had done to its people, hated how much it had broken Marques. Young Alphinaud, of all people, spoke as if he knew him under a different name. Cid nan Garlond. A Garlean. The very sort of man she had been taught not to trust since she stepped foot in this cruel world.She knew Cid was pretending to have his memories back. They both knew minds don't work that way, they don't snap back so easily. After the loss of so many scions, and so many deaths she had been forced to assist with, she relocated her practice to Mor Dhona with Cid. She tried to help him regain his memories while he taught her what he could about this confusing world. Each fact made her more worried than the last.When she helped with the raid into the Praetorium, Rosabel had to remind herself she was a doctor above all else. No matter how tempting it might've been to kill Gaius van Baelsar, a man so clearly guilty of so much suffering. A man with a worldview that was completely antithetical to her own. She broke down by his body and spared him. Alphinaud was waiting for her by the entrance, she couldn't bear to face him if she came back with even more blood on her hands.Using Maggie's help, she carried Gaius' body to the entrance of the Praetorium. She ignored the shocked gasps of the Alliance leaders and the scions as they rushed to retreat their troops out of the collapsing fortress. She used the last of her magick to revive the Garlean to full health, making sure that he was awake to hear her warning: Leave this place and become a man worthy of her mercy, lest she's forced to break her oath to kill him once more.They ran. She had no idea what happened to the Legatus.She thought she had gone through enough. She thought she could finally rest in peace and go back to her practice. Then Minfilia died at the hands of the same goddess that took everything from her. She was framed for something horrible she would never, ever do. She was now involved in the politics of a world she did not understand.And despite all the pain and confusion, there was only one question that continued to echo through her mind:Where the hell were Alphinaud's parents?!HEAVENSWARD

Étienne is an erratic, compulsive, and boisterous young man. When he wasn't helping at his family's bakery, he spent much of his youth in the Brume as a troublemaker and as a very nosy child, which led him into some trouble with the law as he grew older and never escaped his bad habits. It is extremely difficult for him to respect authority or to mind his manners, as well as biting his tongue, much to his parents’ dismay. Don't be mistaken, Étienne is a good man at heart, and will always stand up for those in need and will go out of his way to feed and care for those who need it. He would constantly sneak away food for his friends and for the beggars who had nothing to eat, taking money from his own small allowance to help them when he could. He's a natural contrarian and will always speak out if he finds a rule to be stupid, and will go out of his way to annoy those in power to prove a point. He never ever shies away from a fight, especially considering the fact he's usually the one starting them.While he takes his role as the Warrior of Light seriously, he often finds it hard to focus on his tasks and to act the part of a serious, respected diplomat and hero. He constantly goes against the directives of the Scions, a habit he doesn't break until later in Stormblood when he studies under Gosetsu.The only thing he loves more than combat and being a hero is baking, a skill he inherited from his parents, both talented bakers in their own right. He is constantly making baked goods and trying out new recipes for René and the scions to try, and keeps a journal of all of the new recipes he learns during his travels.Because of Judas’ blessing, Étienne’s echo works by not only showing him the past of others, but by showing him the way the original story of the meteor survivor was supposed to go, giving him the ability of be fully aware of his space in the narrative of his story and how he can bend it to his will. This ability has helped him time and time again to make sure he makes the best possible decisions as a hero, and to make sure he gets the happy ending he believes he deserves. No matter the cost.
* history.
[Grooming, Sexual Assault CW]
Étienne Kapoor was born as the third child of Thavnarian immigrants to Coerthas. As the youngest of three in a working family down in the Brume, Étienne was taught to help out in the family bakery before he was taught how to read. The Kapoors were a relatively well off family, at least compared to the rest of the inhabitants of lower levels of Ishgard. They settled into the customs of Coerthan and Halonic traditions with ease, and despite his parents’ constant desire to return to their homeland, they were happy.In an effort to make sure to fit into their new home, the Kapoors raised their children as devout followers of Halone, teaching them to read and write so they could, at the very least, read the teachings of the Goddess and follow along at the weekly mass. Étienne, being raised as a young girl, found the whole process of mass boring and tedious, much preferring to worship the Fury by learning how to fight and wield a wooden sword than to wear his best dress and make himself look pretty for a god that he believed wouldn't care otherwise.Around that time, Étienne met the young boy who would become his best friend -- René Auclair, the son of a local stonemason named who helped his father make repairs for their bakery. Étienne annoyed René incessantly, begging him to play and bringing him leftover sweets while he worked. Étienne's crush was strong and obvious, and while they never acted on it, they were inseparable, going on adventures around Ishgard and dreaming of leaving their land to explore the rest of the world. They dreamt of becoming soldiers together, winning the war, visiting Thavnair — it was wonderful and Étienne still considers them to be the best days of his life. But they began to drift apart as the voice in Étienne's mind became louder, his behavior more erratic. René began his training as a temple knight, becoming far too busy to indulge Étienne in his immature dreams.He would constantly get in trouble with his parents, the rest of the parish, and the other residents of the Brume, who grew to see him as nothing more than an unruly child with nonsense ideas in his mind. It only became worse as Étienne started to claim dangerous, heretical thoughts about the original Heaven’s Ward — odd tales about dragon blood and shouting about a future truce between dragon and man. His parents begged him to abandon his so-called visions, but when that became useless, they entrusted him into the care of their local priest, the same priest who had been attending to their local parish since Étienne was born. Étienne and the priest soon fell in love, or so the young man thought, and all their supposed therapy sessions were just opportunities to sneak off and have sex. Their relationship began when Étienne was fifteen summers old, and continued until Étienne suddenly admitted his relationship with the older man to René in a drunken stupor. They argued, all but ending their friendship when Étienne refused to see the priest as the disgusting man that he was. He didn't realize the severity of his grooming until he admitted to the Priest that René knew of their relationship. The priest shunned him, accusing him of tempting a Holy Man, and of being an incurable heretic to both his parents and to anyone in the parish that would listen.Étienne only became worse as the voice in his head insisted that he had to train as a knight, and while he begged the voice for explanations and never got a single one, he sneaked off to watch the holy knights to mimic their training. He constantly asked the leaders to allow him to join and was shut down every single time. He even begged René to give him an in, but fearing the repercussions and his friend's safety, he refused. Months turned into years of training by himself, forcing his body to become as strong as possible in an effort to prove himself to anyone who would somehow listen to his crazed ramblings. His parents grew disappointed and distant, those around him grew to see him as nothing more than the lunatic of the Brume, and his prayers to Halone were continuously unanswered.In a final, desperate attempt to become a temple knight, Etienne sneaked into the meeting room of the Heavens' Ward to bid his case directly to the sers themselves. They were not amused by his pleas, only seeing him as an unruly, heretical woman in desperate need of correction. He was raped and beaten for hours, then left for dead in the unforgiving winter right outside the gates of Ishgard.When Étienne came to, he finally saw the source of the voice that had been leading him astray all this time. The Angel called itself Judas, a massive figure of a man in tattered black robes with an ever changing face and long, unruly red hair that moved like flames. Étienne sobbed at the sight of him, recognizing his own features in the Angel's uncanny face. For once in his life, he felt safe. The Angel urged him to abandon the city and head to Gridania, where he would begin his true destiny. As always, Étienne listened.Five years passed knowing nothing about his family, René, or Ishgard. He became a mercenary, accepting odd jobs around the Shroud and perfecting his skills in combat. He did not hear Judas again until a fateful day in the forest where he saw a man he did not recognize that filled him with a level of pure and total hatred he had never felt before. Despite his apprehension and fear, Judas urged him to kill him. Strike him down. It would begin his destiny, he promised. It would finally make you feel powerful.Étienne surprised the man and, with one easy strike, he cut off his head. Something about killing the brunette, pale skinned hyur filled him with a sort of power he did not understand. Étienne screamed as the rush of strength, memories, and aether moved from the dead man's body to his own. He saw everything — the Mother Crystal, the scions, the promise — all suddenly stolen from this unknown man as his own. He saw her, Hydaelyn, looking at him with both scorn and begrudging acceptance. He saw Judas give her a wicked, knowing grin Étienne did not understand.Filled with strength and determination, Étienne headed south to Vesper Bay with the man's head. He later learned they called him Meteor.
* relationships.
RENE AUCLAIR
René is Étienne's true love, his protector, his best friend. He trusts the man above all else, considers him more important than anything in the world, and always finds a way to annoy him. Once best friends who drifted away, they met again at the start of Heavensward and, through hardship and doubt, finally accepted that they were in love. While René struggled with his attraction to men at first, and Étienne had to learn how to accept that love and sex could be good and true, they are always there for each other.Whenever they meet someone new, René is consistently mistaken for the Warrior of Light, since he's a lot larger and looks more like a standard hero. It never ceases to amuse Étienne.EDMONT DE FORTEMPS
His temporary sugar daddy and lover during the beginning of Heavensward. Étienne managed to seduce the older man to entertain himself during his stay back in Ishgard, and in part to make René jealous and to annoy his sons. They broke off their dalliance amicably and are still good friends. Étienne consistently sends the Count letters during his journey and coin for Edmont's men to forward to his family.JUDAS
Despite being an ever-present being in Étienne's life, he knows little of his Ancient soul until the events of Shadowbringers. Étienne always refers to Judas as his “angel”, and even if the being has led him to harm and sorrow, he still somehow trusts his angel completely. Judas has ulterior, confusing motives, but he always means to protect his shard as best he can, and refused for any of his reflections to be cast aside and forgotten just as he was.ESTINIEN VARLINEAU
Despite them butting heads and utterly hating each other at first, Estinien became Étienne closest and dearest friend in the scions, as well as his drinking buddy. In times when he needs some emotional guidance, he always goes to Estinien for help first.
